The glaciers of the world hold a capsule in time of all of the global climate changes. Studying the Holocene time period is paramount, as this is the time period that involved the explosion of human population.

A team of researchers and scientists have been using the glacial mountains of New Zealand to focus this study, mainly due to the fact that this mountain range offers distinct sensitivity to temperature changes and, exhibit some of the best indications of climate change effects.

Some of the results, published in the online publication, Nature, has already shown that mountain ranges around the world often do not act within any synchronous pattern, as the hemispheres of the earth do not seem to be in the same chronological steps.
