There seems to be a lot of use these days of the term ‘energy independence’ and while it may sound like a good thing, in reality, it could be the most devastating direction the U.S. could take.

Energy independence, of course, typically means removing the need for the United States to be dependent on foreign oil. However, the various political factions (mostly conservative) want to open the doors to unprecedented drilling, fracking energy seeking for non-renewable or non-sustainable energy sources.

This will mean a phenomenal boost for those oil and gas industries in America, but also for those that are involved in fracking. It does little else to remove our dependence on oil and gas, that are known global pollutants, but does a lot to put money in the pockets of the companies responsible as well as the politicians that are promoting energy independence.
