Humpback Whales Too Close to Massachusetts Shore to be Safe
Sep 26
The study of humpback whales is both exhilarating and confounding. In the case of the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, there are questionable safety factors. The area near Cape Cod is known for their high quantity of sandlance fish, which attracts the humpback whales. Unfortunately, the area is also only twenty five miles off the coast and this has caused major injuries to the whales when they cross paths with humans and their commercial fishing ships, pleasure boats, yachts and sailboats.
